Thank you for all your support for Camp Read-a-lot! We had so much fun "camping"! We built tents, turned the lights off and our flashlights on, snuggled up and read! We even had a fire crackling on the smartboard. If your child returned his/her fundraising envelope, he/she will receive a McDonald's gift certificate in the Friday Folder this week. Thanks for your help in making this a fun event!
We are finishing up our unit on Life Cycles, learning about Chicks and Fish. Although we didn't have any eggs hatch in our incubator, we still were able to get chicks from the science center to have in our classroom for a week. We observed and learned so much from the chicks and from our reading. The class decided to make posters to share their learning. They came up with 5 ideas for posters, and each table created one. We have them hanging outside our classroom, and the students are so excited when they see other classes stop to read! We were sad to see the chicks go, but they were getting too big for their boxes. The chicks (Abby and Izzy) now live on a farm in Inver Grover Heights.
We had the best week in kindergarten--Track and Field Day....chicks joining our classroom...an AMAZING kindergarten program....wow. I couldn't be more proud of these great students. We had some extra time outside today to celebrate. Nice job, kindergartners!
You may have heard about our new fundraiser, Camp Read-a-Lot! We are asking that students earn pledges by reading an extra 120 minutes on May 31 and June 1. This money will help our school purchase Chromebooks. Kids will earn a treat by simply returning the envelope...no donations needed! We would love for this to become the main fundraiser at Northview, instead of selling items in the future. We understand this may not be a good fit for your family right now. Make sure to turn the envelope in, either way. We got to play Camping Bingo with the whole school to kick off this fun event! Thank you for support, as always!
