We collected a BUNCH of socks for Soctober! Thank you for the donations! We had fun sharing our crazy socks today, too!

We were lucky enough to learn about Diwali from a parent in Mrs. Kurt's class! The kindergartners were so interested in learning about this exciting celebration. If you have a celebration or family tradition that you would like to teach us about, please let me know! Ask your child what he/she can tell you about the Diwali celebrations.
The scientists in our classroom continue to work hard at their research! Scientist Maddie even did some research at home and found a way to determine a tree's age by using a special drill. She demonstrated the process for us using a play-doh tree and a straw "drill". Thank you, Maddie (and Maddie's family) :)! The class is also learning about diagrams. Bella drew her own diagram of the front and back of a leaf, as you can see below! Thank you for your help in making this unit a success!
Some Managed Independent Learning Stations stay the same each week, and some change. Our newest station is the Research Station. I love seeing the scientists below motion for me to come over and see their new discoveries! I also love seeing them use the magnifying glasses to examine our artifacts. We are constantly adding new learning to our chart!
The Eagan Fire Department visited Northview! They came to our classroom, showed us their gear, and talked to us about Fire Safety. Then we got to check out the Fire Truck and even climbed inside! The firefighters were very impressed with our respectful class. I was so proud!
Climb Theater visited Northview and put on a play for the Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd Grades! The students LOVED it! We learned about water pollution and how to take care of lakes and wetlands. Show your child the pictures below and see if he/she can tell you about what happened in the play!
We have been learning how to make people look real in our drawings. I got my first "modeling" gig! They are so attentive to detail...they were sure to get all my wrinkles. :) We have also been learning how to draw people in motion. Holding a running pose while they drew was the best workout I've had in awhile! Ask your child to show you how to draw REAL people!
We learned about how to be safe on the bus, and even practiced how to get out the back of the bus in case of an emergency!
