What do we do when there are too many inside recess days? Dance party!!! We got to spend the whole recess time today (25 minutes) busting a move on the dance floor. Thank you to our custodian, Mr. Ball, for being the D.J., and to Mr. Nelson for giving up his gym space during his Phy. Ed. time. There were lots of red faces and sweaty heads as we lined up for lunch! They had a blast.
Our wonderful media clerk, Mrs. Horton, has transformed the library into a Hawaiian Staycation! We enjoyed lounging on the beach, by waterfalls and water fountains. Mrs. Horton is always going above and beyond to make library fun and exciting for Northview students. If you have a chance, please send her a quick note at [email protected] and let her know you appreciate all she does! It would make her day. I know she made ours!
We are studying 3D shapes in math this month. One of our new workplaces is building 3D shapes with polydrons by following clues. They check the answer key (shown in the photo with the red basket) to see if they built it correctly. We began by practicing this tricky task as teams. It was fun to see them problem solve together and keep trying after failed attempts!
Our new unit of study is the author and illustrator, Eric Carle. We began our unit of study by exploring many of his books. The kindergartners noticed many things about his illustrations and words. They even get to research Eric Carle during Managed Independent Learning on our new classroom Chromebooks. We now have four Chromebooks to use in our room every day. Exciting! We are continuing to read Eric Carle books every day and will soon be creating books in his distinct style.
Everything is more fun in your pajamas.....especially library and computers! Mrs. Horton even had curlers in her hair!
We had a yummy, messy, fun day building gingerbread houses! Thank you for coming to help and for donating all the delicious candy!
We had a fun day celebrating Thanksgiving, including yummy snack mix, turkey art, turkey hats, and turkey bingo! We even got to RUN down the hallway and gobble when we got a bingo!
Each day after lunch, we browse for new books. Kindergartners get to pick one book from our classroom library and one book from their own browsing basket (a book at their level). These books go home to you each night in the book bags. Thank you for taking the time to read these stories each night with your kindergartner!
